Cameroonian community celebrated National Day with food, music, and soccer

Members of the Cameroonian Association of Greater Philadelphia celebrated Cameroon’s National Day, on Saturday, May 18, in Lansdowne. The actual Cameroonian National Day is May 20.

People listened to the dance rhythms of Makossa music and enjoyed Eru and other Cameroonian dishes at a Cameroon National Day celebration on Saturday, May 18, at the Beverly Hills Recreation Area in Lansdowne.

While Cameroon’s National Day was actually on Monday, May 20, the Cameroonian Cultural Association of Greater Philadelphia chose to have a daylong picnic the Saturday before.

Cameroon’s National Day celebrates the anniversary of May 20, 1972, when the Cameroonian people voted to form a unitary state, rather than a federal government.

A Message from Our President

🔥 🚨 The Heart of Cameroon in Philly 🚨 🔥

Imagine a place in Philadelphia where the vibrant colors of the Grassfields meet the rhythmic beats of the Cameroonian coast. A place where our children learn their heritage and the world discovers the rich, unifying power of Cameroonian culture.

That place is the Cameroonian Cultural Center Project—a $12-15 MILLION vision that will become a global hub right here in Philly!

WHY YOUR SUPPORT IS CRITICAL RIGHT NOW:

A Home for Our Heritage (People): This is more than a building; it’s an urgent mission to preserve our diverse traditions.

A Catalyst for Community Growth (Profit): The Center will feature a museum, conference rooms, training rooms, and a Cameroonian restaurant. It will drive economic activity, support local African businesses, and create jobs right here in Philadelphia.

A Window to the World (Unity): We're opening our doors to everyone—regardless of origin, color, or religion—to foster cross-cultural understanding and build global partnerships.

AMBASSADORS ARE LEADING THE WAY! We are thrilled to have powerful voices as Ambassadors! They and our team are dedicated to making this dream a reality .

JOIN THE MOVEMENT & BE A BUILDER OF LEGACY! We need massive support to make this $12-15M vision happen. Your energy, your voice, and your resources matter.
➡️ JOIN ACPE: Volunteer, share your talent, and become an official change-maker!

🎬 WATCH: ACPE Takes It's Vision to Atlantic City! 🎬
Last weekend, our President Erick Yankmi and ACPE delegation had the honor of presenting at the All Bamileke Convention(ABC) Leadership Conference in Atlantic City, NJ! 🌟
In this powerful presentation, we shared our ambitious dream that's close to our hearts - the Cameroonian Cultural Center project - a $7-10 million vision that will serve as:
🏛️ More than just a building - A living museum celebrating our rich Cameroonian heritage
🤝 A community hub - Bringing together our 2,500+ Cameroonians across the tri-state area
🌍 A cultural bridge - Connecting Philadelphia to the beauty of Cameroon and all of Africa

Why this matters to us: For 20 years, celebrating our unity wherever we could. This Cultural Center will be OUR permanent home -a place where our children can learn their heritage, where our elders can share their wisdom, and where ALL of Philadelphia can experience the warmth and richness of Cameroonian culture.

The support we received at the conference was overwhelming! 🙏 Thank you to all.
